Student Enrollment

Wyoming Public Schools welcomes student enrollment in any of our four elementary schools, one 5th/6th grade intermediate school, one 7th, 8th, grade Junior High, and one 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade High School.

Each school offers a comprehensive curriculum with clearly defined standards in all subjects at each grade level.

You will need to provide the following information in order to confirm your child’s enrollment:

  1. Your child’s state-certified Birth Certificate
  2. Two proofs of your residency (lease agreement, tax record,  utility bill)
  3. Copy of your child’s immunization record
  4. Picture ID for parent or guardian
  5. High School students must bring a transcript of credits earned

Open Enrollment Period:  April 13, 2026 – August 24th, 2026 at 4:00 PM

Wyoming Public Schools participates in the Kent ISD Schools of Choice Plan for those students who live in Kent County but outside the Wyoming resident district boundaries, the district also participates in the State 105c plan, which allows students from neighboring counties to attend our district. The WPS Board of Education has limited the acceptance of new Kent County out of district resident students to 300 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade based on space available at the desired school building. The window to apply for acceptance begins on April 13, 2026 and closes as late as August 24th, 2026 at 4:00PM. Schools of Choice slots may remain open until August 24, 2026 unless all available openings are filled.  Applications are available during regular business hours at the WP Administration Building located at 3575 Gladiola Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49519 or on the district website.

Application Process

  • One application form per child must be submitted to the district Central Office for your first district of choice.
  • There are 300 WPS School of Choice slots available for applicantants between Kindergarten and 5th grade.
  • Acceptance of new Schools of Choice applicants under 105c (out of county residents) will be accepted beginning April 13, 2026. 
  • The initial application period ends on May 15, 2026. 
  • Applications are available at the WPS Administration Building or online (note:  we will be accepting 10 out of county applicants Kindergarten through going into 5th grade).
  • Application should be made to ONLY one district, with your second choice being noted on the application.
  • Initial applicants will be informed by May 29, 2026 if the student has been accepted.
  • Parents must then confirm their decision to attend by no later than June 5, 2026.
  • Wait list families notified about openings and confirm the decision to attend by June 19, 2026.
  • School of Choice slots not filled during the initial application period remain open until August 24, 2026.

Schools of Choice Rules and Regulations

  • Annual reapplication is not required.
  • Signature from releasing home district Superintendent is not required.
  • Transportation is not provided.
  • A student who has been suspended, expelled or convicted of a felony may be excluded from Schools of Choice.
  • The Michigan High School Athletic Association requires a student to wait one semester after enrolling in a new district (under Schools of Choice) before participating in athletics.

Kindergarten Age Waiver

If enrolling in Kindergarten, your child must turn 5 years old by September 1 in order to enroll in Kindergarten. However, if you choose for your child to enroll in Kindergarten before he/she turns 5 by December 1, please fill out the Kindergarten Age Waiver form.

2025-2026 School Year

Get your child off to a great start right in your own neighborhood! Preschools close to home involve your child in skill-building activities with other children, laying the foundation for educational success. Your child explores his/her unique interests at their own pace with the encouragement of experienced, caring teachers. Choose from 2, 3 and 4 half-day and full day programs.

Eligibility: Children must meet preschool guidelines.

Program Goals

  1. Teach basic readiness skills in language arts and arithmetic
  2. Provide a stimulating environment for learning
  3. Develop your child’s senses, muscle strength, curiosity, mental and creative abilities
  4. Instill basic skills necessary to get along with other children
  5. Reinforce values already taught at home to enable children to be increasingly responsible for themselves and their behavior
