Severe Weather Procedures

Severe Weather Procedures

The Superintendent’s office continuously monitors the Civil Defense radio frequency and alerts each school in the event of approaching severe weather.

If students are in school when a tornado watch (meaning the possibility of a tornado exists) or thun- derstorm warning is issued, students will remain in session until the regular dismissal time.

If students are in school when a tornado warning is issued, students will remain in school, taking shelter in designated areas.

Parents, legal guardians, or predetermined individuals may pick up students at school during any severe weather warning.

Please do not call school during severe weather warnings unless you have a particularly serious problem. It is important that school lines remain open.

Announcements will be made on local radio and television stations regarding school cancellations.

“No matter the personality, we want our scholars to feel like they can be themselves” said Parkview Elementary School Principal, Brenna Fraser.
