Bond Projects

Through June 30, 2023, WPS has completed bond projects totaling $63.8 million following the November 2017 approval of $79.5 million for district improvements.

Wyoming High School was the first project completed, accounting for approximately half of the dollars spent to date. Improvements at the high school included substantial site improvements to parking, traffic circulation, and athletic fields; new roofing; updated mechanical systems, including air conditioning for classrooms; a new front entrance and office complex with a security vestibule; completely renovated classrooms and furnishings throughout; and a 30-classroom addition to accommodate making the building a tradition 9-12 facility once again.

Other buildings that have had their renovations completed include Gladiola Elementary, West Elementary, Parkview Elementary, and Oriole Park Elementary. These buildings all received new roofs, mechanical systems with air conditioning throughout, classroom updates, new furniture, new windows, playground upgrades, parking and traffic flow improvements, and updated secure entryways.

Projects currently underway include extensive renovations and an addition to Wyoming Junior High School, as well as updates to Wyoming Early Childhood Center (formerly Huntington Woods Elementary) and Wyoming Intermediate School. Work at Wyoming ECC will be completed by fall of 2023. The work at Wyoming Junior High and Wyoming Intermediate will continue through 2025.

Thanks to the generosity of our community once again in May of 2022, with the approval of $24.9 million of additional construction funding, the work at Wyoming Junior High will be able to replicate the type of complete makeover that Wyoming High School received. This work will include extensive updates to parking and athletic fields, a substantial makeover of the fine arts center, and reconstruction of academic spaces with a two-story addition being built in what was the east parking lot.

When all is said and done in 2025, the district will have invested over $100 million in its facilities over a seven-year period, ensuring Wyoming students are learning in quality educational spaces for years to come.
